China Energy Construction won the clean energy project with the largest single capacity in Southeast Asia

On December 14th, China Energy Construction won the bid for the EPC general contracting project of the 1000 MW photovoltaic project of the China National Nuclear Corporation’s North Laos Interconnection Clean Energy Base (Phase I). The project is the largest clean energy project with installed capacity in Laos and currently the largest single unit capacity clean energy project in Southeast Asia.

 1

The project is located in Oudomxay Province, Laos, with a planned installed capacity of 1000 MW. A new 500 kV substation will be built, and a new 500 kV transmission line will be connected to Namo Substation in Laos. A new inspection and maintenance center base will also be built simultaneously.

 2

After the full capacity of the project is put into operation, it is expected that the annual electricity consumption will be 1.687 billion kilowatt hours, which can save about 510400 tons of standard coal per year. Correspondingly, the annual emissions of waste gas caused by coal combustion can be reduced, including 1.4038 million tons of carbon dioxide, 269.95 tons of sulfur dioxide, 302.01 tons of nitrogen oxides, 53.99 tons of smoke and dust, and 2.0415 million cubic meters of fresh water.

 3

After the completion of the project, it will help Laos transform its resource advantages into economic advantages, effectively promoting local energy green and low-carbon transformation and high-quality sustainable economic and social development. In addition, in addition to meeting local consumption, the remaining electricity of the project will be sent back to China, adding clean energy outside the region to China’s southern power grid, assisting Laos in building the “Southeast Asian Battery” vision, and significantly improving the level of power interconnection between China and Laos.

 4

This is due to the government’s support for renewable energy and the continuous progress of photovoltaic technology. In the past few years, Laos has experienced rapid growth in photovoltaic power generation. With the increasing global attention to environmental protection and sustainable development, photovoltaic power generation in Laos will continue to maintain a strong growth momentum, providing broad market space for related enterprises.
