Bowen said that the plan will help people living in apartments or without suitable roofs, and also benefit from neighbors’ solar panels.
The purpose of this plan is to encourage everyone to use electricity during the peak period of solar power generation, and participants need to actively join. Bowen also stated that the free electricity period can help balance the nighttime power grid load by transferring the electricity demand at night to noon. In the local area, midday electricity prices are lower because most of the electricity comes from renewable energy sources rather than coal or natural gas.
Load transfer can also reduce the demand for large energy storage batteries. It is understood that Australia is currently installing energy storage batteries to store excess solar energy.
